Alberta Street, Portland, Oregon, October 2007
Plastic Big Gulp left in the windshield of a rusted American car. Melted ice, liquid black, condensation in big bulbs on the half-transluscent plastic.
Writers and Terrorists
"There's a curious knot that binds novelists and terrorists. In the West we become famous effigies as our books lose the power to shape and influence. Do you ask your writers how they feel about this? Years ago I used to think it was possible for a novelist to alter the inner life of the culture. Now bomb-makers and gunmen have taken that territory. They make raids on human consciousness. What writers used to do before we were all incorporated."

Bible Walk
Anecdote holds that when Crispin Glover performed his Puppet Show at the Nyabinghi Dance Hall in Morgantown, WV, he requested three pairs of gym socks, unwashed and unworn, as well as a trip to the Bible Walk. Or maybe they just took him to the Bible Walk, where Jesus’, or is it Joseph’s, hand had been replaced by a tattered gym sock. By the Time Mr. Glover arrived, the sock had decayed to the point where it’s red stripes had bled into the white cotton. It had been duct-taped into place, the duct tape showing its threads, the gym sock full of holes.
By all accounts, Mr. Glover’s puppet show was a success.
